The Ortofon SPU Synergy GM takes the classic SPU design and modernises the concept, with a number of optimisations and changes designed to provide optimum compatibility and sonic purity. The cartridge features a wood-based housing and has a revised design of the generator system, which allows for a maximum output of 500µV. This relaxes the requirement for using a very high gain step-up transformer or active pre-amplification systems.
The coil windings feature high-purity, gold-plated silver wire and are constructed to genuinely meticulous standards. While still making use of a highly polished nude elliptical stylus to traditional SPU design practice, the stylus tip mass has been reduced significantly compared to the classic models. This results in significantly reduced vertical tracking force requirements and achieves improved tracking ability in the process.
The Synergy GM is truly a classic SPU for the modern world.
